Bus Opus Hopus
It's one of those days
when you're frozen stiff.
Waitin for the bus
and bitin your lip.
A cloud of steam
comes out of your mouth.
Thought this couldn't happen
way down in the south.
Now, here comes the bus,
what a welcomed sight.
But, it suddenly turns
and goes to the right.
You check your money
time and again,
cause if you're short
you won't get in.
You bounce on one leg
and then the other.
Look into space.
This is one mother.
You think of the past,
one thing or another
and you start to wonder
why you even bother.
When it finally comes,
you get in real fast.
Go way to the back
and plop down your cold ass.
That seat back there
over the motor,
feels cozy and hot
and stokes your numb rotor
You nod off to sleep
for the ride downtown
bouncin around
like a hapless clown
